Got an interview?
We’ve got you covered. Just like our broadband, you can expect your interview to be fast, fair and feel-good.
It works both ways
Everyone who interviews at Cuckoo gets the chance to rate their experience using Candidate Net Promoter Score (cNPS). Standard cNPS changes across roles and industries, but is usually between 37-69. We’re really chuffed that our average score in 2024 was 83.5. And we’re always taking on your feedback to get it climbing even higher…
6 steps to working at Cuckoo
Our interview process depends on the job, but it usually goes a bit like this:

Send us your CV
When we review your CV, we don’t see any identifying facts about you (like age, gender, location, etc), so we can focus on what matters – your skills and experience. We’ll aim to get back to you in 3-5 working days.

Have a quick phone call
Pick a 15-30 minute slot to chat (no video needed) with our lovely talent team. We’ll ask you some questions about why you want to join Cuckoo, and give you time to ask us anything you want too. It’ll feel pretty informal – but we make our interview shortlist based on these calls – so bring your A-game!

Join a competency interview
This is where we check your skills and knowledge. You’ll sit down with the hiring manager or a member of the team you’ll be working with – in Exeter for Customer Care and experience roles, and on a virtual video call for most other jobs.

Have a values interview
We want to know how you do what you do. We’re not looking for cookie-cutter versions of people we already have – but it’s worth familiarising yourself with our values so you can give us your unique take on them. Expect to give lots of examples of scenarios you’ve been in, and get ready for us to ask lots of questions in return. This one will probably be a video call.

Do a task
For some roles, you might be asked to do an assignment. It’ll be 100% anonymous (like your CV), so we don’t know whose task is whose and can be totally unbiased. We know – you’re busy and this takes time – but we’ll give you plenty of notice, an estimate of how long to spend on the task, and the evaluation criteria. No guesswork required.

Meet the team
Depending on who you’ve met so far and whether you’ve visited an office, we might offer an extra meeting so that you can meet some of your potential new team! Get a glimpse of the day-to-day and ask any final questions you might have too.
Feeling the nerves?
Don’t! We’re a super friendly bunch, who are excited to meet you. But if you want some extra help (and a look behind the Cuckoo curtain), here are some blogs to help:
